UV Rays in he Fall

Posted by

You may think UV rays are less dangerous in the Fall, and to some extent you would be right. But don't let that chill in the air fool you...sunscreen, hats and long sleeve shirts are still vital for protection in those fall months. UVB rays, the one that cause sunburn, are less dangerous in the fall. But UVA rays are just as potent in the Fall as in the summer. And they are sneakier. UVA rays also cause skin aging and contribute to cancer. These are present year-round, and they can reach through glass and clouds. And UV rays don't end at Labor Day. Even if it's cloudy or cold, you can still get UVA exposure outside

The scariest skin cancer,  Melanoma, has been climbing among young adults, the Skin Cancer Foundation noted, notably young women. Among adults 25 to 29 years old, it's the most common cancer, according to the foundation. And your sun exposure is cumulative over your life, so you want to remain vigilant for yourself and your family year round. This includes while diving and skiing.

Try clothes, wide brimmed hats and mineral suscreens for maximum protection.
